Land Acknowledgment

The NB Community Service Portal respectfully acknowledges that it operates on the traditional unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq, Wolastoqiyik, and Peskotomuhkatiyik Peoples. This land is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship, which these Nations first signed with the British Crown in 1725, which affirms the ongoing relationships of respect, cooperation, and friendship.

NB Community Service Portal honours the deep history, living cultures, and lasting connection to this land of the Mi'kmaq, Wolastoqik, and Peskotomuhkatiyik people. Their roots shape the foundation of what is now known as New Brunswick. In recognition of this connection, the Purple Violet was chosen as the emblem for this intiative as it is an important plant to the Wabanki (Mi'kmaq, Wolastoqiyik, and Peskotomuhkatiyik) knowledge and a symbol of renewal and healing.

The inclusion of the Purple Violet is a reflection of our commitment to acknowledge and honouring the Wabanki perspectives as we commit to the intention of building our vision of a more accessible, inclusive, and empowered communities.
